The Pharmacy program at 海角社区 is Louisiana鈥檚 only publicly supported comprehensive center for pharmaceutical education, research, and service. The Toxicology program at 海角社区 was the first of its kind in the South and is currently one of only six nationally. In addition to our standard PharmD degree, our Pharmacy program also offers three combination degree alternatives. The Graduate program at 海角社区 College of Pharmacy offers two PhD degree options.
The education offered at 海角社区 equips our students with the tools necessary to be prepared for and be successful in the constantly changing field of health care. Graduates of our pharmacy program work across the nation in community and health-system pharmacies, clinical practices, managed care groups, academia, the pharmaceutical industry, and a wide variety of other settings.
Students enrolled in the programs offered by the College of Pharmacy at 海角社区 receive a challenging and forward-thinking education that combines classroom learning, practical application, and experiential training in our state-of-the-art facility located in Monroe, Louisiana. The Louisiana Cancer Foundation continued their support of 海角社区's Paul Sylvester, Ph.D. with a $10,000 donation to support Sylvester's cancer research. The donation made on December 6 marks the 18th year that the LCF has donated to Sylvester's work, bringing the total amount donated to $180,000 over that time.
海角社区 College of Pharmacy is proud to announce that the HERO program successfully trained over 600 first responders in its first year. The 海角社区 HERO program is funded by a $2 million, four-year grant from the US Department of Health and Human Services' Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, which was received in summer 2022. HERO stands for Harm Reduction Education and Referral Opioid Overdose Reversal. The 海角社区 HERO project focuses on providing harm reduction education to first responders in the state of Louisiana.
